Who is the qualification for?

It is designed for barpersons working in on-licensed premises in England and Wales.

The qualification comprises two units – the BIIAB Barperson’s National Certificate, and BIIAB Customer and Drinks Service. In order to achieve the qualification you must successfully complete both units.

The course syllabus includes:

  • Young people
  • Dealing with trouble
  • The drinks you serve
  • The strength and effects of drinks
  • Drugs
  • Preventing and dealing with violence
  • Social responsibilities issues

What does the assessment involve?

The BIIAB Customer and Drinks Service unit is assessed by a short multiple-choice question examination. The examination consists of thirty questions, and twenty-four questions must be answered correctly to pass.
