Who is the qualification for?
It is designed for barpersons working in on-licensed premises in England and Wales.
The qualification comprises two units – the BIIAB Barperson’s National Certificate, and BIIAB Customer and Drinks Service. In order to achieve the qualification you must successfully complete both units.
The course syllabus includes:
- Licences and licensing hours
- Young people
- Dealing with trouble
- The drinks you serve
- The strength and effects of drinks
- Drugs
- Preventing and dealing with violence
- Social responsibilities issues

What does the assessment involve?
The BIIAB Customer and Drinks Service unit is assessed by a short multiple-choice question examination. The examination consists of thirty questions, and twenty-four questions must be answered correctly to pass.
